labor day weekend

alex started school this week. she likes some teachers better than others, of course. she is already assuming she'll be bored in one class. and she's still waiting to find out which chair in symphonic band she is. if she's first or second chair then she has to switch to piccolo (unless someone challenges for her seat and they win.) but they haven't explained what the seating chart is yet, so she's eager to find out. john went up to canada to close up the cabin so it was girls' weekend. friday night, alex and i went out to blossom to watch empire strikes back with the cleveland orchestra. it was fantastic and it's my favorite star wars movie. as we walked to the car after the movie we watched the fireworks - which were actually really good. saturday, alex and i went to the world's largest bounce house. it was a lot of fun, a lot of exercise, and exhausting! we had a great time bouncing and laughing. after bouncing we went to bomba tacos - alex has been wanting to go for a while. it was delicious, as usual. after we got home we built a "fort" in the family room and binge watched the dark crystal series. we finished watching the series on sunday as well as making friendship bracelets and making ramen noodles from scratch. back to work and school today.
