vacay
back from vacation and back to reality. right before we left on vacation, alex had theatre camp for a week ending in a beach themed friday night performance. she did great. she seemed to know where to go and she was dancing and singing - it was a lot to learn in a week and she seemed to even know the parts that she wasn't even on stage for. she says she enjoyed it and wants to be on stage, so next up are singing/acting/dance classes! the following morning we left for canada. alex really enjoyed fishing this year and in fact graduated up to a big girl rod - actually it was john's old rod so i guess it's a big boy rod :) and she caught a rather large fish towards the end of vacation (with john's assistance since it was so large.) we saw lots of animals, alex kept a list of all the animal sightings so she could take it to show 'n' tell. some of the animals on the list include: fish, minnows, frogs, toads, horses, snakes, spiders, hummingbirds, skinks, snapping turtle (kept as a pet for a week and named Snappy), and a black bear! she got to make another pottery piece with katherine - and she picked out a fish bowl that she fell in love with for herself and wouldn't put down. we found a new food love in rosseau - mini powdered donuts - sooooo delicious. alex loved the "canadian milk", and the farmer peas and the giant corn from sobey's, and of course the bacon wrapped scallops. she also chowed down on some chicken and said she was a "cashew girl" and was loving on john's homemade jerky. she enjoyed dancing, helping prep for diaper changes of carter, fishing, frog hunting, catching water spiders, the motor boat, the canoe and so much more. some memorable quotes: "so what's the latest news, carter?"; "that's very mysterious"; "are you happy uncle matt?"; and "i love lonnie more than grilled cheese sandwiches". alex was really ready to get home to see lonnie and to see her friends at school.
