i'm back to work :( but luckily alex gets a few more days of holiday break. we had a lovely break, even though it started off with alex being sick for far too long, and is really just now getting over it. that caused her to miss a few events, but still had a lovely time. first was christmas with grandpa jerry and uncle john for a few days. their presents started her on her newfound love of legos - she's really good at them and wants to keep getting sets to put together. then alex missed out on christmas eve with great-grandma because she was sick, but they sent home presents for her which was too nice. christmas morning was fun, of course. we started with stockings full of nail polish and flash lights and markers etc. alex got the pickle present - surprise, surprise. then we opened presents from santa and me and john, and she was ready for more. we had christmas afternoon at bopey and normy-norm's which was a blast. alex got more legos, a cuddleuppet, nail polish, art supplies and so forth. and mary gave her some real medical supplies to play with and to use on dolly/doggie check-ups. later in the week we had tea at the ritz. alex was eager to see the gingerbread house, which was a lovely shade of blue this year - i think it's one of my favorites so far. she ate all her tea sandwiches, had water from a champagne glass, ate some chocolate and then more chocolate cupcakes. after tea, we had someone take our picture for us, and he then went and gave alex an ariel ballerina doll as a present! we've had lots of snow over several of the days. alex had a birthday dinner with burgers on the grill. on her actual birthday, she wanted to go see Rise of the Guardians, which was a pretty cute movie. and she got a few birthday presents. and now we're prepping for her birthday party with her friends. she's very excited and she's getting a lot of rsvp's so it should it a nice turnout. happy holidays.
