ice-skating and really cold weather

last weekend, alex and john had a long weekend so they went ice-skating. it was alex's first time and she has a skating party coming up soon. she really enjoyed it and even said "i was born to skate." john said she did well and wants to go back soon. it was single digit temps this week, but alex still had school all week. she even had mid-year kindergarten testing, we'll see how that went - she says fine, but who knows what that means. she seems to be reading well so i'm not worried. alex tried some new foods this week, but didn't seem to like any of them. first, was chicken cordon bleu - which she said she liked, but would be better with ketchup and then decided she didn't like it at all; and second, she tried avocado chicken salad and she had pre-decided that she wasn't going to like that so that didn't go well. she's a picky eater though, so at least she's trying something.
