memorial day weekend
well, we had a busy long weekend. john went up to canada to help open the cabin while alex and i made an unexpected trip to cincinnati. grandpa jerry and aunt mary both spent their long weekends in ERs and both are on the mend now. alex and i had a girls weekend full of stuff planned before we added in going to cincy, but we fit most of our plans in along with some extras. alex had wanted to go to five guys burger, so we fit that in friday night before we gathered our bags for the weekend. saturday, alex, lonnie and i drove down to cincinnati to visit grandpa jerry in the hospital. this is where alex discovered vending machines for the first time - so then she had to get a snack every time we went to visit grandpa jerry. we squeezed in a quick visit to the gap clearance center while we were there. we managed to get lost in the worst parts of cincinnati on saturday night and siri couldn't get us out because she didn't know about all the construction at every turn - alex was upset and didn't think we'd ever find out way out - and when we finally did find out way out we got stuck in tim mcgraw traffic. and alex kept yelling at siri (she calls her "cheery") to give us better directions, haha. then we went to skyline - which alex loved; she wouldn't try the actual chili though, she just loved that she got two hot dogs on one bun and the oyster crackers and oreo dessert. sunday, alex and i went out for an early breakfast to iHop and then back to the hospital. and we had to fit in a trip to larosa's before leaving town. and i don't think i've ever seen so many cops on the highway as this weekend - wow. so back in town, alex and i went to the memphis kiddie park on memorial day. this year she loves the roller coaster - i think she used half her tickets to ride that over and over again. then we followed that up by going to steak 'n' shake. and then finally home to get things done like cleaning and homework and soapmaking and printing and laundry and all that jazz.
