exciting week. first alex got her sparring gear at taekwondo and on the day of a sparring class - so she got to test it out and she loved it. she's getting better at sparring. on friday night, alex went to a "parents night out" event at daycare where she had dinner and watched the grinch movie and had movie snacks and hung out with her friends. john was late that night so i played santa while i had the house to myself - not quite done but put a dent in the work. then on Saturday morning, Alex and I participated in the Christmas Story 5k. John had to go to work so he dropped us off at the start area. we had on our pink bunny sweatshirts (if we do this next year i'm going to add wires to the ears so they can stand up.) we saw a ton of great outfits and got our picture taken with the mean santa helpers. we were lucky that the rain stopped before the start of the race and the temperature was nice for the actual race. alex did a great job and started off with a jog/run and then we briskly walked most of it. the 5k ended at the house from the movie. unfortunately, they ran out of medals right before we finished (and they are great medals) but supposedly ours will be mailed to us in about a month. santa was hanging out at the house so we got to see him - he was a really good looking santa, but alex says that he's not the real one, just a delegate. then we waiting in line for the house. that's when it got cold and windy - just standing there waiting. the race workers gave alex a half tray of chocolate chip cookies and my phone died before getting inside the house, so i didn't get any pictures. but the house was still fun to see and the gift shop is great. later that night alex got a high fever and has been sick ever since - the flu is going around. in fact, today she keeps complaining that she just wants to go to school!
