alex's field trip this week was to the zoo. she got to see the penguins and i guess go on some slide. she saw lots of other animals, but the only thing i got to hear about was the penguins and slide! she also had taekwondo all week - first week as a purple belt and she's already learning a new form. the weekend was full of super hot weather, so alex got in a lot of backyard pool time. our friend aaron convinced alex that she didn't need floats and such to swim so she tried! and she did it! she spent the rest of the weekend swimming under water and wanting to practice more and more. it's amazing. she flipped the switch and is swimming like crazy. while alex was swimming, john was busy taking down the old shed. he did a great job, except that he took a 2x4 to the face and busted open a gash just above his eye (good thing he was wearing eye protection.) he'll be fine, but there sure was a lot of blood. he got the whole shed taken down - now how do we throw away all that garbage. alex and i also went to the movies this weekend. we saw Inside Out. alex liked it; it was far from my favorite movie. the character, Sadness, was a cute character, but the movie in general was sad and depressing and Joy wasn't very nice to Sadness until the end. not great. but awesome job to alex for finally getting over that fear of swimming :)
