happy alexventine's day!

alex had her valentine's party at school on friday. she brought in toy story valentine's for all her friends and teachers with a heart shaped lollipop for each. she also brought in fruit snacks for the party. but she tells me at the party she had a cookie, a cupcake and pizza! she also came home with loads of valentine goodies (apparantly i need to step up the valentine's cards next year). so obviously she enjoyed her school party. then on saturday was her first day in the big girl's gymnastics class...i think it's called awesome asteroids! it didn't start off too well - before we even went (in fact since last week) she's been telling me that she doesn't want to go to gymnastics, then she would not participate in warm-ups (and that was after 10 minutes of me trying to get her to even walk over to where they were doing warm-ups). but i kept asking her if she wanted to do class or go home and she said she wanted to stay for class, so we did. actually, after warm-ups were over she did a great job at class. she never once cared that i was on the sidelines and she sat on her carpet square and took her turns and was very polite. even true to big kid class form - as soon as she finished one of her turns she asked if it was her turn to go again! and yesterday, when alex was waking up i told her she had to wish daddy a happy valentine's day and she quickly corrected me and said that's not how you say it! so i asked, how do you say it then..."it's happy alexventine's day!". that's about as clever as her knock knock jokes...actually much better than her jokes which go something like this: "knock, knock", "who's there", "daddy", "daddy who?"..."in that picture!" brilliant, huh?
