beat the heat

so, it was not a good week for things not breaking at our household. first john's car window broke (which i guess freaked out alex because the motor kept running and it was the window in the back seat next to her), then the computer's mother board fried (yes that's at the store now getting fixed), and then the air-conditioning broke (which hopefully will be getting fixed real soon and hopefully won't break our wallets). and it was a hot few days, so we had to find ways to beat the heat. john set up alex's pool in the backyard and even set up her little tykes slide so she could slide right into the pool - that was fun (well, it looked like fun, it's not like i actually tried it myself). and we had a "camp out" in the basement on saturday night (on the floor - ouch) because it was soooo much cooler down there than even the first floor. and we pulled out the ice packs to cool ourselves off also. at least the weather is cooling off a little, so we'll see. also, this is alex's last week of summer break, but she is excited to go back to school - she is already packing her backpack with things she wants to show her teachers and friends. and we had a fay family get together yesterday over at aunt molly's - alex was really good for a little while and then you could tell by her awesome attitude that it was time to go nap - she loved molly's dog though and chased her around almost the entire time we were there.
