i don't like shots.

busy weekend, again. friday night alex and i went along to puppy school with john and lonnie. that will be the last time we accompany them - alex was such a distraction trying to jump in the middle and help train. it's nice that she's trying but lonnie wouldn't focus for a moment on anything with alex there. and it ends up being a really long day for alex also, being on a friday night after school and all. so she didn't really enjoy herself either, but she is helping with the training at home and is slowly getting the idea. saturday was gymnastics and errands and such. sunday, alex helped john start to plant the garden indoors. she loves to help with the gardening and she gets to use all her tools and gloves while helping. and this morning was the annual well visit with the doctor. oh my, we've been building up to this including melt down hour last night about how she doesn't want to go to the doctor. then all morning was a series of crying and worrying. so by the time we even got to the office i was in heavy bribe territory already including a strawberry shortcake doll and lunch at mcdonald's afterwards. then i almost ruined the whole set up by having the wrong appointment time and in turn being an hour late. luckily they fit us in! thank goodness - i was not looking forward to starting that all over again on a different date. i even thought ahead and brought our own scooby doo band-aids because last time (about 2 years ago and she still remembers clearly) she did not like their bandages at all. i was expecting full out protest in the waiting area with crying and floor pouting and all, but i was soooo pleasantly surprised when she sat next to me and just whispered in my ear about how we shouldn't be here and we should just leave and go to mcdonald's. then we were called back...while holding my hand and bulldog in the other arm we ventured to the back where she quickly changed her mood. she happily got weighed, got her height measurement, got her blood pressure taken and got an eye test (i think she liked that one actually). then we went to the real room for our ear test and to wait for the doctor. she did great, she's medium height and weight and answered all the doc's questions including some lies like loving brocolli. then the doc left and we waited for the much dreaded shots from the nurse. she got 4 shots :( poor girl. and her face got worse with each one as the crying escalated with it - the nurse was so fast too. yay we were done at this point - now to leave with a crying kid and my head held high. once in the car she got her strawberry shortcake doll and we were on our way to lunch where i got to hear how much alex doesn't like shots and that they hurt real bad. and she was walking all bent over and holding her legs where she got her shots saying how much it hurts. then off to school where before i even got her settled she had already told 3 of her friends how she went to the doctor and got shots and then got to have a happy meal where she got a fairy barbie toy. happy monday :)
