fourth of july weekend

yay for summer. alex had a really fun week again. john and alex made it to the zoo this week - the elephants are finally back. and they have all those painted elephants on display too that alex enjoyed seeing. alex also finally got her new bike - yay. we've been meaning to get her one all summer and figured her birthday being in winter wasn't very fun for receiving bikes so she got one now. she's doing a great job with it too - she bailed out going into a turn too fast the first day but she got back up and kept riding. she has been really enjoying her big wheel too though - she can really move on that and be more independent so that's the favorite mode of transport lately. then came the holiday weekend and we got fun poppers, sparklers, snakes, smoke bombs and pop-its to set off. alex really liked the pop-its where you throw them at the ground and they pop - i think i need to go get more of those. and we went up to the falls parade. alex has only been to one parade before and she was too young to remember. she had a great time and said it was "awesome" - of course they were throwing candy the whole time and she collected a nice size amount so you can imagine why she thought the parade was so awesome. and lonnie even went with us to the parade and got lots of bones from marchers.
