vacation!
back to life today, back to reality. 2 weeks goes by so fast. this year we didn't make it to canada for a full 2 weeks; john needed to put a few days of work in now that he's in a new position. alex and i took the full two weeks off though, so we spent the first couple of days packing and shopping and we went to cedar point. we had fun; she isn't up for the big roller coasters yet, but she did the smaller coaster and she really likes the midway style rides like the scrambler and spinning rides and such like that. we spent almost all day there riding rides and she got ice-cream and we ended with midway games where she won a stuffed hello kitty and a stuffed unicorn like the one from despicable me. the next morning we headed up to canada. we had a mix of weather; sunny and rainy and cold and all. we tie-dyed shirts and sun printed fabric and stenciled and alex made bracelets and sketched a lot. she make a pottery piece with kathryn; can't wait to see that, she added thumb and finger grooves for holding her piece. we tried out the new bakery and alex posed with the giant gnome and the suit of armor. we had fun with family and aunt lani was there this year. she loved her timbits as usual and enjoyed the rosseau playground and playing in the sand. there were several beach days where she had fun in the water and got clean, went on the paddle boat, and blew bubbles. she fished with john a few times; she was trying to catch 20 fish in one session (i don't think that happened.) john went into town twice this year! he went in with alex and i and enjoyed a family day of sorts, where we dined at a restaurant on a lake that had a resident chipmunk. alex loved the chipmunk and fed him about 4 of her french fries. aaron and mildred came up for the last weekend of our vacation. so john went into town with us and enjoyed the harbor and a meal by the bay. aaron and mildred had fun and we enjoyed a couple evenings of jumping off the dock, good food, paddle boating and bb guns. lonnie spent the week and a half at dog camp. he wore himself out and will be sleeping for days :)
