girls' weekend

it was our first week back at the real world. well sorta, alex is still on summer break at daycare, but back to summer schedule and work. we got lots of tae kwon do in this week and she will be belt testing this weekend. she had a field trip to a picnic area this week and i guess they all got rained on, but still had fun. and then john went to canada for guys' weekend so alex and i were home with lonnie (who is still recovering from doggy camp.) alex and i had a good weekend; we worked hard and had some fun too. alex coined the phrase "if you get the work done, then you have fun." eating at 5 guys burgers seems to be a part of girls' weekend, and alex likes to call things a tradition so i think eating there might be official now. her 2nd front tooth is really wiggly now too so she's having a hard time eating things - but she managed that burger just fine. we caught up on all the laundry finally (there was a ton still from vacation and before) and i worked on ampersands, and we did the dishes, and rode our bikes, and sketched, and we hung lights in alex's room and we did some sewing (alex refashioned a too big shirt into a dress and headband with belt) and she did some latch hook, and we bought all her school supplies and i know there was more but that's all i can remember right now. of course there was fort building and a little movie watching. there was just a couple of things we didn't get done on our to-do list, but that's alright, we got a lot done and feel accomplished.
