belt test, soccer, playoff hockey - busy, busy, busy
the week was relatively normal leading up to the weekend: went to taekwondo everyday; Alex had guitar (which i guess is going well, she seems to be learning songs that all go with the words "i want peanut butter"); and she spent every night studying her Korean terms. Saturday was a full day to say the least. the day started off with reviewing her Korean terms (she was nervous about her test and the terms are always the biggest struggle for her with these belt tests.) Luckily they split up the belt tests into two parts so that we had a smaller group of all middle and upper belts. Alex did great and is really sharpening up her forms and knew most of the terms during the quiz. She is now a red-black belt! woot woot and she will be that for about a year as she tip tests (now a full belt test for every tip she earns) on her way to her black belt. Then we went straight from Alex's belt test to her first soccer game of the season. Alex is on the cyclones and she played quite well, even scoring a goal. it was really cold at the field, but Alex was aggressive and her goal was a nice chip shot over the head of a player plus the goalie. after the soccer game, we celebrated with lunch and dairy queen (yum, Alex got an Oreo and Reese's cup blizzard.) shortly after lunch, Alex and john went to go see the Monsters sweep the first round against the IceHogs in the Calder Cup playoffs. They both got t-shirts and rally towels and Alex got a puck. They had a great time at the game together. Sunday was spent cooking and cleaning and getting stuff done. Alex made blueberry muffins and helped with the turkey.
