vacation in Canada!
we had a full two weeks in Canada this year! the first week (plus a few days) it rained constantly and started off really cold. i did not pack appropriately for the cold weather, haha. but that finally passed and the weather got much nicer. so the first week we spent inside cooking food, doing crafts, playing ping pong, and Alex watched a lot of Smallville. we tried going to a canada day celebration and got caught in a big storm and some of us got really soaking wet. once the weather improved we headed out to Canada's Wonderland. that was fun. we got to ride some unique stuff that Cedar Point doesn't have including a fun video game type roller coaster. you ride a bit of coaster then into the mountain and start shooting at spiders and creatures and finally a dragon. then the ride unexpectedly drops down a level. it was great - we rode that coaster several times. we also enjoyed ice cream and some funnel cake and followed that up with Boston Pizza Company. then we had a couple of days of really nice sun at the cabin and yummy stuff at the bakery before we headed out to Niagara. the weather was not looking good for our 1 day at Niagara so i was a little worried, but most things continue as though there's no rain. we stopped off at souvenir city for a few photo ops, a couple of souvenirs, and a quick lunch at the food court. then we headed off to check into our hotel. we immediately headed down to the boat so we could try to fit that in before the thunderstorms. we made the walk down there just fine and then it started pouring on us when we were waiting to board the boat so we were soaking wet and laughing by the time we got on deck. we went straight for the second tier of the boat in the front. the wind was whipping and it was quite misty (from the falls and from the rain.) it was neat to be that close to the falls and we all enjoyed the experience. our hotel had a great view and we had a lovely dinner at an italian place right next door. after dinner we watched the fireworks over the falls from our room - great view. alex kept calling niagara "amazing"
