food pantry, coding, cedar point
friday night turned out to be a beautiful evening, so alex and i took our new paddle boards and went to wallace lake. it was sunny and calm and we paddled the lake before hanging out on the beach while alex tried to catch tiny little minnows to put in a little reservoir she built. she did manage to catch one with her bare hands, but it died before she got it in the reservoir. saturday morning, the three of us volunteered at john's school for the food pantry. we were on pear duty. we will definitely try to get to more of these. after the food pantry we took alex to coding class while john and i went down to hofbrauhaus for a beer and lunch. alex seemed to really enjoy class and even went home and practiced everything she learned by setting up a webpage of recipes she's made or trying to make (she plans on the making the first recipe this week - ben and jerry's ice cream.) she also did her school homework all weekend in between things. sunday morning, we went to cedar point. we accidentally got there extra early because we didn't check the hours and they had just changed them for halloweekends. but we were in the first group of people and were among the ones that ran all the way to steel vengeance! it was totally worth it though because alex and i got to ride first row and we didn't have to wait long. this is just a really fantastic coaster - best i've ever ridden.
