in sickness and shoes, with some candy too

well, a week ago, alex suddenly got a high fever and was very lethargic. the next morning, there was no mistaking the fact that alex had double pink eye. so i took her to the doctor, since we can't seem to get eyedrops prescribed over the phone. and we found out that she also had an ear infection. knock on wood, this was her first one and hopefully her last. she missed quite a few days of daycare and probably had quite an interesting photo taken for picture day, but alex is much better now and back at daycare.

there was a boot sale this weekend too, so alex and i went to get her a pair of winter boots (as modeled in the picture). she won't put on any other shoes now though. it was 80 degrees yesterday and she wanted to wear her boots and refused any other shoes. this morning, she would only wear her frog raincoat and her winter boots - and she wouldn't even take off her coat to hang up when we got to daycare.
alex is talking more and more though. well, she's putting thoughts together in yoda-like sentences now. for example "inside, kai-kai, go", and "chubby, where?" oh and we sadly discovered that alex knows what candy is. there were some smarties in her locker on friday at daycare. she saw them later that night and started the most epic tantrum i have ever witnessed screaming "Candy, Candy" the whole time at the top of her lungs (this continued through a bath even, and she loves the bath) - she was a child obsessed. she had never reacted that way over chocolate or cookies before - i've never even given her true candy before - i can only assume that candy is one of those things that she learned at daycare, oh well :)
