the holidays

the holidays are over and back to the grind, yuck. we had a lovely christmas break. it started off with holiday tea at the ritz - the photo here is taken just before leaving (isn't the hat adorable?). alex got a children's tea, which meant hot chocolate with sandwiches and desserts and all the marshmallows she wanted (and believe me she wanted a lot). this was the beginning of the holiday sugar high. she had a fun time and when bopey and my dessert tier showed up, alex was pointing at each other asking it that was hers! she had her own plate altogether with all her goodies. the next day was christmas eve at great grandma's place - alex really enjoyed the meatballs (A LOT) and the singing - she wanted more singing. Then came Christmas! i think alex got everything she wanted from santa (and this was only the beginning of her gift getting). Her birthday party was very nice - thanks everyone that came. She blew through opening her presents in a classic 3 year old fashion. and she was very excited about her dora party hats and balloons - and if you took off your hat she was going to point it out and tell you to put it back on. she actually ate a bunch of her meal and the cake and ice-cream (chocolate, of course). Then we were off to Great Wolf Lodge. Alex loooooooved the pool and the swimming and the slides. We spent pretty much all our pool time at the slides - the red slide was her favorite. she was not happy at all to be leaving that place - in fact she pouted for a while and wouldn't admit that she had enjoyed herself. then finally came alex's actual birthday. we went to see the Princess and the Frog - we made it most of the way through the movie finally having to leave when she wanted to go to the bathroom for the 4th time - we left a wake of popcorn mess behind too. And here we are back to school - the only reason that got her moving this morning was that she was getting to take birthday cupcakes to her friends at daycare :)

(and alex loves all her gifts! seriously.)
