rollerskating and cycling

so, alex got her roller skates! and no, not because she let me trim her nails like the original plan (that had to get amended considering the apparant trauma that nail clipping was causing). so, almost every single night since we have been rollerskating around the family room and hallway. and she is finally big enough that she can reach the pedals on her trike - and she can ride it up and down the hallway (takes some muscle but she's doing it).
also, alex had her annual well visit this week. we have not been to the doctor is soooo long - that's a good thing obviously. so i'm not sure why alex was apprehensive about going into the back part of the doctor's office. well, this was after the automatic toilet flusher freak out - which is understandable when you think about the toilet just flushing on its own as you walk into the stall. finally something changed her tune and she was quite cooperative with the doctor and chatty. she was answering all her questions (although not completely accurate all the time - for example alex told her that she changes the cat litter - she doesn't even know where the litter boxes are. when asked what she likes to do she replied with "i like to hang out and play with kaya" and when asked what she does at daycare alex replied with "run in place" - ooookay, that's an interesting response). she's 50% in weight and up in the 85% for height! so combined she barely reaches the chart at all, so she's tall and skinny...for now :). then at the end it was time for alex's hep shot! although i was trying to tell her that she was about to get a shot i didn't explain what that meant so she had no idea what was coming. she was laying there all happy hugging herself like the technician asked her to do. then she got the shot in her thigh and alex's face got all angry and really loud and long she said (not yelled, but said) "ooooooouuuuuuuuch!". she was so angry with us and the rest of the week has been telling us that the doctor cut her leg and it hurts! she told me that the only thing that would help her feel better was chocolate ice-cream! wow, in the midst of severe pain (lol) she can negotiate her way into getting some treats :)
