treasure hunt, zoo and visitors

busy week for alex. st patrick's day was this week and since it's not really a kids holiday (at all) and alex wasn't really grasping what any of it was about (although daycare helps with that - doing shamrock art and so forth) john thought of the great idea of a treasure hunt. so i made a map and we had chocolate coins at each stop on the map and the final treasure at the end of the rainbow was a mickey mouse clubhouse yahtzee jr. game. of course, she didn't really care about the prizes so much, she just kept saying that she wanted to do another treasure hunt! so we had to re-enact the whole hunt again. then this weekend grandpa jerry and uncle john were in town. we had our first trip of the season to the zoo. it was a little cold still, but the rainforest is always warm and she gets tired pretty quickly anyways. she wanted to see the panda bears (which i don't even know if our zoo has any pandas) so we didn't see any, but grandpa jerry gave alex a stuffed panda that makes sounds and drinks from a bottle - which alex later named rory (or rawry - still trying to figure out the exact pronunciation).
