the polar express and holiday tea

the holidays are officially on for alex. she had her holiday party at school on friday - santa visited and everyone brought treats and alex handed out her presents to her teachers. saturday morning was the polar express. it decided to snow for our train ride, which was really nice except for when we were waiting to board the train. we got hot chocolate (with really good cream on it) and cookies - it didn't take alex long to get hot chocolate on her christmas jammies. they read the polar express story to us, sang carols. alex sang into the microphone and added "in his underpants" to the rudolph song which got a chuckle out of the whole train car. she got to try out a bunch of musical instruments and santa came on the train. he handed out bells to all the children and alex got to try on his hat (she was the only child to get to try on his hat). it was fun to be on a real train and alex had a great time. then on sunday was holiday tea at the ritz. alex and i did our nails up, and she wanted to wear all the same jewelry as me, so she had on a ring and some "pearls" and she brought a purse with her. she ate her entire plate of treats, which included 3 little sandwiches, a cookie, a cupcake and a chocoate dipped candy cane. she loved seeing the gingerbread house, which had a train this year. and she enjoyed looking out into the mall after tea. she looked like such a grown up. alex really enjoys having tea with the girls. yay, holidays.
