happy (rainy) halloween
halloween was on thursday, and many cities moved trick-or-treating to a different night due to rain and wind but not olmsted falls - the night went on in spite of rain and wind. this year, alex's friend, abby, and her sister and parents came over to our neighborhood for tick-or-treating. alex was so excited to be able to have her friend with her this year. alex was a detective fox: and i guess many people were singing that song to her, "what does the fox say" and she took it, but was getting upset since she had her idea before that song came out and that's not why she was a fox! she enjoyed her costume anyways. her friend, abby, was a pirate and her little sister was merida from brave. they all went out with umbrellas and came back soaked (i stuck back to hand out candy.) they had fun; the next day alex wanted to rewind so she could have the day over again she enjoyed it so much. on friday, alex got a new drum teacher - he seems nice and she's still doing well in class. this weekend was about getting stuff done and catching up for the most part (sort of.) alex helped john cook beef stew on saturday (and then whined about having to eat it) and then helped him cook chili on sunday (and whined about having to eat that, too.) we cleaned up all the halloween decorations and let alex start putting out some christmas stuff indoors. so then, she set up a doctor's office in the living room to check all her stuffed christmas patients. she even posted a sign on the door that read "please knock, respect."
