still feeling winter
alex had an extra short week at school this past week. first was president's day and then she had a snow day! she went sledding with her friend on the holiday and both dads and then on the snow day she built a snowman in the backyard. so then she ended up with a cold that was building more on the weekend. she had drums but missed tae kwon do all week - don't want to bring a cold to a whole class of kids. and then we had to postpone fun playdate plans because her cold got that much worse this weekend. she sounds better so far today so hopefully she can get back on track and back to schedule and fun this week. on friday morning, alex and i started to leave the house and my back tire was completely flat! geez, i have not had to change a tire in years (thanks to john) and i hadn't changed one in this car so i didn't even know how to get that full-size spare off the bottom of the car. alex was very helpful holding the phone while john told me how to get to that tire, and she was telling me i things were moving and budging. that sure takes some muscle changing a tire - i was even bouncing with my full body weight on the wrench to get the bolts out. we got it done though and then found a giant screw was the cause of the flat. so unfortunately, john spent most of saturday at firestone getting me all 4 new tires and fixing my brakes (which i didn't know were a problem) and an oil change and i feel like there was more that i can't remember. ugh, it'd be nice if we could get past winter and all these giant potholes could get mended.
