graduated to orange belt
alex had her belt test this weekend. she did a great job. in fact, she was the highest ranking belt there so she led the warm-ups before the test and the hand shakes. she did well with her paper - that took a little practice though; even though i wrote what she told me to write, she doesn't necessarily know how to read all the words she told me to write! she did great though, and she knew all her forms and punches and all. it took her a couple tries to punch thru the breaking board - but that's because i think she was stopping her punch which is the natural instinct. her kick to break the real board was great though - she had force and everything. so, she is now an orange belt. on friday, alex and i went to the indoor pool to try to get some swimming in only to discover it was closed for maintenance so we decided to instead go home and ride bikes. which was great, because she could ride her bike already but was too nervous to do it all by herself and by the time we stopped friday night she had it down. she still has to work on turns, but so do i and she is starting and stopping and riding distances without needing anyone there to comfort her. on saturday, after her belt test, she had her friend sophie over for a playdate. they play so well together and had a great time. we filled up the backyard pool and they made water balloons and rode bikes and rode in the car and played connect 4 and giggled a lot. alex's field trip last week was to the movies which was fun i guess because they had the whole theater to themselves. and this week she gets to go bowling. school starts in less than two weeks!
