heritage days weekend
it was heritage days in olmsted falls this weekend. it was kicked off thursday with the parade. alex could have been in the parade, but she said she thought she'd be "better at getting candy!" so she wanted to watch and catch candy and she sure did get a big bag of it. she did sign up to be in the taekwondo demo as part of the heritage days weekend. friday night, alex and i went to the indoor pool to get her practicing some more. saturday, all three of us walked up to town to get ready for the demo. alex broke a board, did a form, some basic steps, and took someone down. she did great - there were a lot of people there and it was nice weather. although she was complaining that her feet were melting off they were so hot! john and i got some food truck food while she was setting up for her demo - i had a yummy gyro; i would like another one :). after alex was done, we took her over to get a hot dog from a stand that her friend's parents were working. so she got to sit down and enjoy a hot dog with her friend, dominic. then we got some delicious ice-cream and walked home. on sunday, john and alex went to the indians game. in the past alex only made it a few innings and wanted to leave as soon as she finished her food treats. this year they made it thru the 8th inning and she was curious and asking questions and had a great time. she did get some treats too; ice-cream and a soft pretzel (which she somehow hollowed out and made into a salt straw!) alex also found out who her second grade teacher will be and she starts school this week!
