star of the week

last week alex was star of the week at school. she had brought home the school "pet" the weekend before and documented that in photos and journal writing. she then got a special letter from us read to the class. she got a vip style lunch where she invited a friend from another class to dine with her. she filled about a profile page that was hung up with pictures and she shared things like her favorite book. of course, now she's upset that she's not star of the week anymore and she doesn't even have a class job this week! haha. she also had her music program last week. they sang about 8 or 10 patriotic songs - which i have had stuck in my head ever since. alex was chosen to be one of the kids to introduce a song - actually she introduced two songs. she did great. she had it all memorized right away too, but when she got up there the microphone fell and she read from the sheet (which kind of tripped her up), but she did great. this weekend we finally got alex her flu shot - she did well with that too. i don't think she tensed up too much - at least it's done. and on sunday, alex and i went to the movies to see big hero 6. it was cute. she enjoyed it and it was all about super smart geeks.
