alex signed up for our town's Heritage Days parade again this year. she walked with her taekwondo school and helped in leading the kicks and punches they demonstrated at times. it was a hot night out and that is a long parade - alex did great. we got to see sarah and carter and connor in the parade as well for sarah's work. the next day, alex got her school teacher assignment - she got the teacher she wanted! i was chatting with her 3rd grade teacher about who she got and he said they'd be a good match - mr. acerra said her 4th grade teacher is tough and gives lots of homework, but he'll challenge alex and that'll be good for her. we got lots of outside sun time this weekend too and enjoyed the backyard pool and alex got all her school supplies in order. on sunday we had a 5k to do bright and early. it was the Hofbrauhaus 5k downtown. alex had 3 5k pokemon eggs to hatch which was a fun incentive. and we got beer and brats and medals and race shirts for the 5k (well, she didn't get a beer and i gave her and aaron my brat.) i guess the brats were delicious and it's nice to get a little exercise in early. we walked it with our friend aaron. they were way more organized this year than they were last year (their first time having the event.) and there was a german band playing after the race which was fun. alex liked the restaurant and wants to back for more pretzel (i got a giant pretzel with cheese) and she wants to try their perogis.
