gingerbread houses

alex got her paperwork this week inviting her to be in the gifted program at school! we're so proud of her. she will rotate out of different classes during the week in order to go to a special resource room class. they will do research projects and mock trials and debates. i think alex is going to really enjoy the challenge. she is still responsible for the material she misses while in the resource room as well. this weekend was work around the house and cooking and such. and alex and i made a mini gingerbread village! i've never done this before and it is not easy to do. the cashier at the craft store suggested using a hot glue gun to assemble the houses if we're not going to eat them - that was a great idea! i don't think i would have gotten past the basic assembly step otherwise. they turned out cute, but we have to keep them hidden in the other room because blizz already stole and ate a gumdrop!
