girls' weekend

as alex wraps up the school year she has lots of year end activities and fun stuff. she had her lacrosse banquet this week and her last game of the season. she played in every position in that game and did great. coach took all the girls out for ice cream after the last game. alex also had field day this week which is always fun, career day (i guess she might become an engineer), and a luau. john was in canada opening the cabin so it was alex and i for girls' weekend. the plan was to spend all day saturday filling the pool, but some critter chewed a giant hole in it so that didn't happen. sunday, we went and saw Solo. we enjoyed it. it's a bit long and has some issues, but i thought it was better than rogue one and the last jedi overall. then we went over to uncle matt's and aunt sarah's and had fun at their pool and had dinner. alex baked brownies that we took over that were delicious. monday, alex and i went to cedar point. it was so hot out and started getting crowded pretty early. but we headed straight back to maverick and rode that once (we would have gone more, but the lines got long fast on that one.) so we went all the way back to the opposite end of the park to ride gatekeeper. there were no lines on that coaster so we kept getting right back on and rode in the first row several times. we were crazy hot so we ate at johnny rockets (they have air conditioning and yummy milk shakes.) shortly after we left, cedar point lost partial power and some riders had to climb down from stuck rides - thank goodness we didn't have to do that!
