Hilton Head and Savannah

alex and i went on a road trip vacation to Savannah, Georgia and Hilton Head, South Carolina. it was crazy hot, but that was true across the country - at least we had water to cool off in at all times. alex had never been to the ocean before and she really loved it. she loved how warm it was and how the little waves crashed into you and she could walk out really far and still stand and look out and see dolphins and look down and see sting rays. we drove straight down to start our vacation in Savannah. my friend has a boat and he took us out shark fishing. alex had fun catching these cute little bull sharks - when we went again at the end of the week she caught a little hammerhead shark too. she loved riding out on the boat and going fast over the wakes and bouncing - she giggled like crazy and enjoyed watching my face, which was pretty funny i guess. we walked around Savannah and hunted down a few penny presses on river street and got ice cream at Leopold's - delicious. Savannah is a beautiful city and i just love all the trees. we then headed to Hilton Head. our hotel was right on the beach. we spent a couple lazy days getting sun on the beach and by the pool. alex tried her first smoothie and enjoyed it so much she had a second one. she also tried lobster for the first time and obviously loved that. we ate a lot of delicious seafood in general, lots of scallops, and tried some different restaurants. the last day we were in Hilton Head, we went ziplining. that's the one thing alex really wanted to do and it was so much fun. i thought i'd be scared of the heights and i was worried she would be, but it was a blast and we will definitely do more of that. after ziplining, we went over to Harbour Town to walk up the lighthouse and collect more pennies. then we headed over to Tybee beach. and then back to Savannah where we went on the boat again. there were dolphins around and i got to drive the boat to chase down the bait fish while alex and jason caught them. then we caught a bunch more little sharks, lost one that was too big to bring on the boat anyways, and a huge sting ray! we had such a great time and enjoyed so many things i want to make this an annual vacation :)
