friday night was regan's surprise 60th birthday party. there were a lot of people there, but alex did very well. she really enjoyed the music and the dance floor. she even enjoyed eating regan's entire piece of chocolate cake (that he had gotten for himself).
gymnastics class keeps getting better everytime. she stayed on her piece of carpet when she was waiting her turn and she got to try the rings this time - she had a huge grin on her face.
saturday night, we made dark chocolate ice-cream. you can tell from the picture that she was really enjoying it. i also make homemade burgers and alex actually ate some! she won't eat meat usually, except for pork and fish - normally she refuses red meat and chicken. so yay, she ate some of the burger, of course since it was homemade it was filled with herbs and onions and such, and we added ranch dressing to hers and put it in a tortilla wrap - but hey, she still ate some red meat :)
alex also got her first real toothbrush and toothpaste this weekend (she was using this baby rubbery toothbrush with just water). so alex picked out a sesame street toothbrush and the toothpast is thomas and friends tooty fruity flavor. she really enjoyed it and did a wonderful job brushing - she kept wanting refills on the toothpaste.
alex has learned a couple of things with her speech all of a sudden. she learned the word "mine" and boy is it clear. the first time she used it with us was when i was trying to get the wash cloth back from her, she turned her back to me, hugged the wash cloth and said "no, mine." i couldn't help but crack up, but i'm sure the whole "mine" thing will take a bad turn at some point. also, alex is getting much better with answering questions - the answer is usually no, but still no is usually the honest answer. last night i asked alex if she had picked up all the wrappers that she had dropped on the floor, and she replied very matter of factly "noooooo." she is putting together more and more words too - pretty soon there will be no resemblance of the baby she once was.
