first trip to the pool

i've been wanting to join a pool for so long now to get alex in the water. well, we finally joined the berea rec center on saturday - nothing fancy, it's really small, but it has workout equipment and a pool, which is pretty much all we're interested in. so last night, alex and i went to the indoor pool for the first time. i was nervous that she would freak when she wasn't able to stand or sit in the water - she's been in water, of course, but only far enough to still be sitting (and that only includes the canada lake and the bath tub, oh and the inch deep baby pool in the back yard). she did such an awesome job. it was a little slow to start she wouldn't let me go too far from the wall or get her too wet, but by the end of it we were going back and forth half the length of the pool while she kicked her legs and got her chin wet. she lasted a half hour, which i thought was amazing. then she decided it would be funny or a good idea to try to drink the water, therefore ending our first trip to the pool. after we were done in the pool i wanted to try to get alex to shower with me, so that i didn't need to get her dressed only to get her home and into the bath tub. she did a great job in the shower too - she even let me put her head in the running water to rinse out the shampoo. we had a lot of fun at our first outing to the rec center, hopefully it wasn't a fluke and every time is as enjoyable.
