happy thanksgiving

we started the thanksgiving weekend early by going down to cincinnati to see grandpa jerry and uncle john on wednesday. we had a great trip to the gap outlet (including a shirt for alex that says "green is my favorite color" - how perfect for her considering she has to tell me that exact same thing almost daily) and then dinner with aunt mary and uncle jim at the chinese restaurant (which included a joke telling man who had a quarter in his pocket for alex!). on thanksgiving day, we went to see Tangled 3D - that was cute, we all enjoyed that movie. then dinner over at aunt mary and uncle jim's house where we were joined by some cousins and their kids, jonah and carolyn (whom alex had a great time playing with, and learning how to beat up on the tall guy, gary, and alex got a dolphin pillow pet as a christmas present from a.mary and u.jim). alex enjoyed corn for her thanksgiving dinner - seriously she had lots of corn and about one bite of a giant roll. friday we went to breakfast and trekked back home. lonnie was pretty good in the car both ways (it got really really close to an almost accident on my lap on the way home though). when we got home, we found that poor jeffrey stickers was not doing well at all. some of you already know this, but we rushed jeffrey to the vet within hours of us getting home on friday and found out that she had massive liver failure and had to be put down. they don't really know any causes specifically for liver failure but it is generally known to be caused by cancer. poor jeffrey stickers will be missed by all who loved her - she brought a lot of joy to us all in the short time she was here. with this being the third pet that we've lost in as little as six months or so it was bound to be bad for alex, we couldn't do anything but be as specific as possible with her about jeffrey - she's confused but is taking it rather well (luckily she has lonnie to help). so anyways, on with the rest of our weekend, or at least our attempt at one. we ended up having a sleep out on saturday night with fort and all and watched how to train your dragon. then on sunday alex and i had a play date to go see Megamind 3D - so i guess we saw a lot of movies over this long weekend. and here we are back at work trying to make it to christmas - we really need a break. happy dance class monday.
