friday for john's birthday, alex and john went to soccer practice :) and then we gave him his birthday gifts when they got home. john did get to go fishing all weekend, but that's pretty much all the birthday fun he ended up getting since everyone started getting sick by saturday afternoon. alex did get to go to dawson's birthday party at the jumpyard on saturday. dawson is alex's "best buddy" and she plans on marrying him when she's an adult and having three kids. alex wore that shirt specifically to the party because spiderman is dawson's favorite hero - the gifts were spiderman themed as well. the jumpyard is an inflatable play ground - which is where alex wants to have her next birthday party (her first friends party.) she seemed a little scared of the playhouses at first, but then she teamed up with samantha (her "bff" - and don't confuse that with "best buddies" - the difference is bff's have to be girls according to alex) and went on all the biggest slides and mazes. alex barely ate at the party and was the complaining that her stomach hurt. so, that got us started on the rest of the sick weekend. poor girl has broken a bunch of blood vessels on her face from puking :( she did get an archery set last weekend and has had a chance to try it out a few times this week when the weather was tolerable. her arrows have suction cup ends and no feathers on them - she has to demonstrate all the safety rules before moving on to real arrows. and she's doing very well, she recites the rules to me and remembers how to put the arrow on the bow and has already improved with her shooting.
