recital, preK graduation, and long weekend
alex had her dance recital and preK graduation this week. and she had her kindergarten testing before that! she scored really well at testing, she was in all the highest rankings - the counselor just said keep doing what you're doing. alex did a great job dancing - even though the leotard and tights were clearly itchy and she liked to wave to us a lot, ha ha. she seemed to really know her routine. then she had graduation right after. all the 3 rooms of graduates walked out and each room had their own song performance. then they all walked out of the gymnasium and came back in one by one to receive their "diploma". alex did a wonderful job - no fear of being the center of attention from alex - i even heard comments from people around me on how proper she is. of course afterwards the first thing she wanted to do was get a cupcake and cookie. then we had a great girls weekend and memorial day. it's coming to the end of soccer season already, only one more game. alex spent most of the practice tying knots in blades of grass, and then again during the game when she wasn't on the field. she's so good at tying knots in grass that she picked out a tie your own blanket kit at joanne's which she is already halfway done with making. alex got to meet her new cousin, carter, this weekend - she was sooo excited about that. she tried chick-fil-a for the first time and really loved that chicken. we spent a lot of the weekend in the backyard inflatable pool. and saturday night we painted our nails, she gave us both makeovers!, and we watched movies (it was her first time watching Annie, which i love. the first comment out of her mouth about it was "i don't like her hair" haha - but then the movie grew on her and she ended up being very concerned about the rest of the orphans and if they got adopted at the end of the movie.) sunday, we went to the kiddie park with Aunt Jess and cousin Abbey. it was blazing hot so we didn't last that long - and they were getting really crowded, but alex had a great time. we followed that up with Steak n Shake - and alex is still talking about how Abbey put her entire fist with pacificer into Aunt Jess' milkshake. Monday morning was the olmsted falls parade, which was short but great. alex got her bag full of candy and even a balloon this time. it was a good weekend and week - and alex is happy to be back at school today to be with her friends.
