she's a yellow belt now
alex had her first belt test on saturday. none of us really knew what to expect, except that dominic's dad said it took a few hours. alex studied and practiced. she didn't seem too worried though. she got up and read her paper that she wrote answering what her goals in taekwondo are. she went thru all her blocks, kicks and forms. she did her vocabulary and she broke some wood. there was a lot of kids belt testing (well, it seemed like a lot but maybe that was an average number - that's why it takes hours, you watch everyone perform their bits.) she punched thru a breakaway board and she kicked thru a real piece of birch wood. she got to keep her piece of wood that she broke too and she got a certificate. so now she's a yellow belt and we hung up her white belt on her new belt display rack. she's trying to figure out how to display the broken wood pieces. this week, alex has her presentation on penguins, so she took in her papier mache visual aid today and she says she's all set with her report.
