memorial day weekend
it's close to the end of the school year and we got a long weekend in - yay. friday, alex had a school field trip to a farm. she was pretty excited about milking a cow - and it turns out that she's one of the only kids that did milk a cow (most of the others chickened out.) she also pet a cow, and watched a sheep get sheered, and she really liked the rainbow dyed sheep. she said the bus ride was really long - an hour each way - so now she understands how long an hour really is, haha. alex helped me feed uncle matt and aunt sarah's cats for the weekend - even rizz came out to say high when we were feeding them - we knew nelser would. saturday was a full day: first was taekwondo (she had her one form down for her yellow belt, i guess she has another form to learn to get her next tip), then we had a soccer game (she did well, she's getting more aggressive with the ball, which is good), and then we changed really quick and headed to the american girl store. that's a really cool (although giant) mall - we didn't explore the whole mall or anything, we were pretty busy at the ag store with lunch and shopping then it was time to go. that store is big and overwhelming with too much to look at. the bistro was cute and the food was good. the dolls got their own seats and pretend tea. there was a box of conversation questions that alex read thru and answered. alex got a lot of attention there with people telling her how cute she is and how she looks like a movie star. after eating we shopped around a little, picked out a few things and headed home. on sunday, alex and i had breakfast at iHop, got an errand or two in, fed the cats and then set ourselves up in the backyard with the inflatable pool, lonnie's pool and enjoyed the sun. on monday, we cleaned up, did some laundry, and enjoyed more sun. back to work and school today - although there's only about a week of school left for alex! wow.
