alex started the third grade! she got the teacher she wanted and so far so good. his favorite books are harry potter and his favorite movie is star wars. the class is grouped into hogwarts houses: alex is in hufflepuff. i guess this teacher also lets them have snacks in class and have their water bottles in class. and his friend has a tardis in his back yard! alex has had some homework and she has chosen to do extra homework already. i guess they've had a math test and a spelling test already: although i'd bet they were assessment tests. and the third grade open house is tonight. it's not easy getting back into the swing of homework, and making lunches for everyone, and everything, but it was a successful start to the school year. soon art class at OPA (she chose to take a cartooning class this semester - instead of a music or theater like usual) and soccer will start. and she got her first brown tip on her purple belt this week.
