summer break is wrapping up. alex goes back to school this week! her backpack and lunch bag are all ready; all her supplies are labeled; and lunch ideas have been generated. alex is really excited to go back and she got the teacher that she really wanted. friday night, alex had a play date with sophie at our place. they rode bikes, drove the car, played on the playground, played air hockey, ate pizza, and tons of other things i can't even remember. they get along so well. alex has another play date today with her friend emma - she's really excited, and they haven't seen each other all summer. on saturday, along with grocery shopping and soap making and such, we put together the new shed. alex was a big help. she carried pieces and counted out screws and such and helped keep us hydrated. and yay, the shed is up! we still need to get the old shed pieces out to the curb for bulk pickup, but soon that will be gone. and on sunday, we enjoyed a little of the super hot weather, but also spent most of the day cooking. we made green salsa, granola bars, meatloaf for alex's lunches, pasta sauce from scratch, beef jerky, and lunch and dinner. and here we are at monday and i'm exhausted already :)
