STORM team
alex had a really great week at taekwondo. last week she just got a tip on her belt. then she made the STORM team! she is the youngest person at her dojang to have made storm team - it's quite a big deal. it is a special team of role models. and not a lot of people make the team. she has a special patch that i stitched onto the back of her dobak and she will be getting blue pants that she gets to wear now. it's very exciting - you should have seen her face when they told her. she was so shocked and so thrilled - she really deserves it. on friday, i was able to dip out of work for a long lunch to go take alex some subway and eat with her at school. that was a nice treat for both of us and i even got to meet her teacher who seems like a very nice man. friday night alex and i enjoyed a dinner out at suds - i really wanted pizza; we had no food at home; and i didn't feel like figuring out what to cook. they took out they're skeeball machine and replaced it with a basketball game. that game turned out quite popular and alex played a couple of times; and she seemed to be pretty good at it. the rest of the weekend was spent with me prepping for the art sale (so much more work to do for that), alex and john going grocery shopping and cleaning, cooking, and alex setting up some sort of game which seems to be about roller skating and dressing up starlight (her american girl doll.) we also finally managed to move the toad into the old fish tank - he's been sitting outside so long in a small habitat that hopefully he'll bounce back now that he's in a real home (he seems to like the toad house already.)
