we always have a busy winter break, but every once in a while they are even busier than usual :) it was a wonderful break and now we're all trying to get caught up on being back to work and school. we got to see some movies, binge some netflix, eat out a few meals and do some fun stuff. christmas was lovely. alex got a new phone for christmas! she was so thrilled and she absolutely loves it. she was texting her friends within the hour. oh yeah, on the way home from christmas eve at aunt molly's, Alex decided to call us out on the existence of Santa! haha, and she had a list of reasons why Santa wasn't real and it was us, the parents, all along. there was nothing left to do, but admit it, tell her it's all about the giving, and tell her she could have played along for one more day, haha. anyways, it was a fun christmas and she played along with the Santa concept for the sake of her cousins. after christmas, alex and i went to Chicago to see Hamilton! it was so amazing - even better than i expected. while in Chicago, alex and i walked up to see the cloud gate (that big metal jelly bean thing) and saw the decorations. we went and got Pizano's deep dish pizza and we went to a delicious sushi restaurant. alex really enjoyed the hotel (i guess she's only even been to a Disney World hotel and didn't expect a normal hotel to have any amenities) and she thought the free hotel breakfast was fantastic. it was pretty tasty, and alex enjoyed a big waffle with chocolate chips and syrup on it. after Chicago, we had a hockey game with bopey, lani and norm. and yay, the monsters won. on new year's eve alex stayed up past midnight - that was her big goal this year (she got close last year but zonked out at 11:55.) alex had a nice birthday with pizza and chocolate cupcakes and chocolate ice cream and cinnamon rolls and all sorts of treats. and she was bummed to have to go back to school, but was excited to bring brownies in to her classroom :)
