i was on the fence about doing this run (i really didn't want to wake up so early on a sunday) but alex and my friend, aaron, wanted to participate. aaron and i have done this 5k since the first year so i didn't want to stop yet. this would be our 3rd year and alex's 2nd time. none of us trained so we walk the whole thing and just have fun and enjoy it. then at the finish line you get a beer (and yes, they almost handed alex a beer out of habit, haha) and a brat. then you can also order food, so we got a giant soft pretzel and potato pancakes (which were delicious.) there is also live music and plenty of people watching. plus we wore fun hats and got great finishers' medals. saturday, we spent the day cleaning and having the cable guy over to update our ancient modem. so we rewarded ourselves for a hard days work with streaming indiana jones. alex thought it was ok and moved kind of slow! but the beginning and end were exciting enough for her. we also streamed pete's dragon (super sad movie fyi) and guardians of the galaxy with no issues - yay! alex is starting to heal up from her wasp sting from last week's field trip. the wasp seemed to get caught in her shorts while in the bounce house and really nailed her. it was her first bee sting and it was a doozy, but it's finally improving. but if you ask alex about it she will go on for an hour on how amazing cortisone is, haha. she only has 2 more field trips this summer and she gets her class assignment later this week!
