alex is growing up so fast. last week was her first full week of the fifth grade. she really likes 2 of her teachers and does not like the 3rd, but hey, that will happen. she has had homework every day, but so far it's a bit lighter than last year's math (that could change.) there's also a new gym teacher, but the same art and music teachers. she's already taken a math test and has a science test this week. this week, alex started a new bus route! she can take the bus straight from home and one of her friends lives nearby, so that's helping them get closer. alex's best friend moved to a new school district, and it'd be great if she got close to someone in the neighborhood. we got a lot done this weekend too. we didn't really go anywhere, but i made soap and tomato sauce and john made beer and alex cleaned up all her shelves in the basement. she worked hard and figured out what to donate and what to keep and throw out. she also finished a book series last night that she really enjoyed. it was the 6th and final book in the series. she was a little distraught that the series is over and if she'll find other books that she likes just as well :) i'm happy she's gotten so much into reading.
