meet alex

Alexandra Brook Fay

She's now 19 months old. I've been writing in a journal for her, but it's so much easier to type up stuff while waiting for work to upload or something, so I'm going to try this for awhile.

My sweet Alex, what a character. We just went to the zoo again yesterday, and she actually stayed awake this time!! She loves animals so much, she was doing all her signs. She was particularly enthusiastic about the kangaroos this visit. She has 2 of her i teeth coming in right now, so she's cranky and was running a fever, but chewing on apples seems to help a ton.

Alex is starting to speak so clearly now and she's stringing words together. She likes to say "Bye, bye, Kai Kai" to the dog and give her orders when she's supposed to come indoors. She can probably say about 50 words now - they may not all be clear, but we know what they are.

Alex spent summer break home with Dad, and last week was their first week back at school. Alex didn't even make it the whole week since she got sent home on Friday with a fever. She's back today and apparantly is doing well. She got moved up a room to be with older kids - they're still not all settled yet since most kids aren't back in school yet, but she's doing great so far. She's been sleeping in a cot and playing on the swings and slides. She seems to like to sit in this car on the playground. And the daycare told me how much she looooves to play in water - we already knew that, it's just funny that it's that apparant. We have a kiddie pool for her at home, but I stepped on it and put a hole in it :( oops.

I'll type more later when I get the hang of this thing better and have anything new to say :)

thanks for reading

So I was about to start an overnight shift when I came across this. Usually I check the pictures you all post before, during or after working at the hospital to look at Alex; it keeps me grounded, makes me laugh and reminds me that there is more to these walls of this hospital. I miss you all terribly especially our little Boogie Beans.
