the many dances of boogie bean

the name boogie bean came from a song that john made up when alex was a baby, but it's really appropriate now too. there were three things that were almost foolproof to calm down alex when she was a baby: the bingo song, going outside, and the boogie bean song. calling her boogie bean almost always got her to look at you too when you wanted to get a picture. anyways, this is more about how alex loves to dance/boogie. she has a different dance for each different type of music or song. some notables are: Elmo's World (during the elmo's world intro song, alex does a dance where she sticks out both pointer fingers and shakes them - kind of like a 30's flapper girl dance); Chicken Dance (my aunt mary and uncle jim bought alex this chicken that when you press his foot he flaps his wings moves his beak and sings the chicken dance song. well alex does a sort of twist dance to that song); Family Guy (yes, my 20 month old knows the family guy theme song - and absolutely loves it. this dance is more of an up and down bounce with the arms up to the sides); Hogan's Heros (this dance she got from john - she puts her hand in a fist and swings it back and forth - kind of like you would do while singing an irish drinking song); and then of course music like jack johnson and little richard (yes she discovered little richard in canada when norm played dj with dinner music. this dance is more of a side to side dance - like the little teapot dance but without the arms in position). Alex will dance to anything - including the jeopardy sound effects and elevator music that you might hear waiting in line at the grocery store. she absolutely loves music. and of course dancing :)
